From Digital Twins to Entangled Twins: A Phenomenological Model for Industry 5.0

Introduces Entangled Twins (ETs), reworking the Digital Twin concept so that humans and AI systems become dynamically entangled rather than merely represented. Drawing on Husserl, Merleau-Ponty, and Sartre, the paper examines agency, responsibility, and human-centered design through a phenomenological lens, proposing a "We-subject" — a plural, co-constituted configuration of agency — and advancing an ethics of entanglement for Industry 5.0, illustrated through an audio-augmented case study.

Designing Sonic Interactions in Intelligent Reality with Egocentric Audio Technologies

Sonic Interactions in Virtual Environments (SIVE) aims to foster immersive and interactive sonic experiences in VR/AR. This chapter overviews the field and, through the lens of actor-network theory and egocentric audio, discusses how to design meaningful sonic interactions. It proposes the Entanglement eXperience Map (EXMap), a theoretical design tool built around three concepts enabled by egocentric audio and an auditory digital twin: sense of immersion, coherence of the experience, and entanglement between the user (real twin) and a cyber-physical system (digital twin) — illustrated through a cultural-heritage case study of a personalized, spatialized audio museum visit.

Egocentric Audio in the Digital Twin of Virtual Environments

Argues that Virtual Reality simulations must be ecologically enacted through a participatory network of human and non-human actors, guarded by a digital twin (DT) that fosters intra-actions between humans and technology and dynamically redefines configurations crucial to meaningful sonic experiences. Frames human-machine entanglement in an egocentric-spatial perspective tied to the listener’s subjectivity, working toward a definition of intelligent reality as the perceptual and cognitive co-constitution of physical and virtual worlds through adaptive, reflective VR technologies. Defines sonic experiences as a multilayer network of actors across two layers — immersion and coherence — entangled by a DT capable of transformative actions for the listener.
